Share

From huge Air Force transports to historic biplanes, more than 50 aircraft will be displayed Saturday and Sunday at Long Beach Airport as part of the Salute to Aviation ’89.

The show will feature military, antique, commercial and home-built aircraft in a ground display that last year attracted more than 50,000 people during its two-day run.

Highlights are expected to include the B-1B bomber, the Air Force’s C-5 Galaxy transport and the AH-64A Apache attack helicopter as well as a World War I-vintage Fokker Triplane and a P-51 Mustang from World War II.

Pilots, including women who shuttled military aircraft around the country during World War II, will be available to sign autographs and chat. A model airplane air show also is scheduled.
