Council Nominating Papers Available

Candidates for city council in Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes may pick up nominating papers from city clerks in each city beginning Monday. Two council seats will be on the ballot in each city. In Rolling Hills Estates, the seats are now held by Mayor Nell Mirels and Councilwoman Jacki McGuire. Seats held by Mayor Jacki Bacharach and Councilman Robert Ryan will be on the ballot in Rancho Palos Verdes.

The deadline for filing in both cities is Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. If an incumbent does not file, the deadline will be extended until Aug. 16 at 5 p.m.

Petitions for two seats on the Palos Verdes Library District board, now held by Robin Hinchliffe and Janet Smith, may also be picked up beginning Monday. Nominating papers for the November election must be obtained in person from the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters, 5557 Ferguson Drive, City of Commerce. As with the city elections, filing closes Aug. 11 at 5 p.m., but if an incumbent does not file for reelection, the deadline will be extended to Aug. 16 at 5 p.m.
