U.S. Nun Reported Slain at Kenya Mission
Unidentified gunmen killed an American nun and wounded another at their mission, a priest said Friday.
Sister Agnes Reinkemeyer of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary was killed Wednesday in Wema near the coastal town of Malindi, according to a priest at the Garissa diocese in eastern Kenya.
The assailants also shot her American colleague, Sister Evelyn Marie Peterman, in the leg, said the priest, who would identify himself only as Father Joe. She was treated in Malindi and returned to the mission, he said.
Father Joe said the diocese did not know how many gunmen staged the attack or what their motive was.
