Angel Myers has continued her training since she was suspended from international swimming competition but, now that she has given up her fight to lift the suspension, she says she doesn’t know whether she’ll continue her career.

“At this point I honestly do not know,” she said.

Myers, a multiple gold medal winner in the 1986 Goodwill Games, was dropped from the U.S. Olympic team last August after a drug test imposed by the U.S. Olympic Committee indicated steroid use. She was suspended by the United States Swimming organization last winter from competition through the end of 1989.

Myers and her lawyer, Michael A. Fennessy, announced Tuesday that she has given up the fight to lift her suspension after the USS organization said it will not agree to arbitration of the merits of her suspension.

Myers has contended that the examination misread the contents of birth control pills she was taking.
