THE SIDELINES : Detroit Yacht Named Race Winner

Renegade of Detroit’s Bayview Yacht Club was the overall winner on handicap of the 82nd annual Chicago to Mackinac Island yacht race, officials said today.

The 50-foot boat finished the race fourth at 7:16 a.m. EDT Tuesday but claimed first prize in International Offshore Rule One on handicap. Renegade, owned by Kenneth Meade, had a corrected time of 57 hours, 14 minutes, 12 second, race spokeswoman Michael Roche said.

Windancer, which finished at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday, was second with a corrected time of 59:30:26, and American Eagle, which finished at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday, was third with a corrected time of 59:41:03, Roche said.
