A Simi Valley man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stabbing to death a fellow tenant in a boardinghouse in an argument over money, the Simi Valley Police Department reported.
Roni Paz, 32, died during surgery at Simi Valley Adventist Hospital shortly after he was stabbed in the abdomen with a 10-inch kitchen knife Wednesday night, Detective Sgt. Tony Harper said.
Harper said Oscar Garnica, 26, fled after the stabbing but was arrested when he returned to the residence in the 1500 block of Sitka Avenue.
Earlier in the night, several other boarders broke up a fight between the two men that started inside the house and continued into the street, Harper said. Garnica then returned to the house for a knife and stabbed Paz as Paz used a garden hose to clean his arms and face, Harper said.
