E. Robert Wallach concluded six days of testimony at his racketeering trial in New York, and U.S. District Judge Richard Owen scheduled closing arguments by prosecutors and defense attorneys to begin today. The judge said he expected jurors to receive the case by early next week. Wallach and two associates are charged with racketeering for allegedly defrauding now-defunct Wedtech Corp. of nearly $2 million in return for Wallach’s promise to use his influence with former Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese III to help obtain defense contracts for the fledgling firm. Meese has not been charged with any offense.
