Airline attendants called on Congress to ban smoking on all domestic flights, saying second-hand smoke is threatening their lungs. Speaking at a Washington news conference held by a coalition of 40 health and anti-smoking groups, attendants said they were disappointed by the House Aviation subcommittee rejection last week of a sweeping ban. Smoking is forbidden on flights of two hours or less. That temporary restriction is set to expire in April, 1990, unless Congress extends it. Only one U.S. airline, Northwest, bars smoking on all domestic flights.
