Britain has enough evidence to prosecute three suspected Nazi war criminals, a government inquiry said, but a decision was postponed until Parliament can debate the issue this fall. A war crimes inquiry recommended that British courts be given the power to hear cases of murder and manslaughter committed as war crimes in Germany or German-occupied territory during World War II. After examining 301 allegations against people living in Britain, it said there was sufficient evidence to prosecute four people, although one has since died. Another 78 cases warrant further investigation, it said. None of the suspects was named. They are currently immune from prosecution because the crimes were not committed in Britain.
