Pico Rivera : Adopted Budget Has Funds for Senior Citizens Center
The Pico Rivera City Council, almost a month past deadline, has approved a $22.5-million budget, including more than $2 million in capital improvements for fiscal 1989-90.
Under the new budget, the city plans to build a senior citizens center, complete with a game room, kitchen and multipurpose room large enough for 400 people.
The city also has allocated more than $1 million for improvements to Slauson Avenue and Telegraph Road.
“This budget is a new beginning for us,” City Manager Dennis Courtemarche wrote in a letter to the council. “It is essentially balanced and provides a new base from which to plan. The revenue picture is stable, with a solid and growing sales tax base and continuing growth in new property taxes.”
