COMMUNITY : Dodger Star Gives Out College Scholarships
Pitcher Orel Hershiser handed out college scholarships to eight students at Dodger Stadium.
The scholarships were awarded from a fund established in memory of James Patrick Jarrin, the late son of Dodger Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrin. James Patrick Jarrin died of an aneurysm last year at age 29.
Hershiser is president of the fund.
Recipients of $500 scholarships were: Mariano Aranda and Carmen Gonzalez, Garfield High School; Martin Hernandez and Lilia Sanchez, Lincoln High School; Geoffrey Heredia and Michelle Vilar, San Marino High School (which James Patrick Jarrin attended), and Arcelia Gomez and Martin Romero, Wilson High School.
