The state of California kicked off a campaign Friday targeted at blacks, women and teen-agers about the dangers of AIDS.

The $300,000 campaign, coordinated through AIDS Project Los Angeles, features public service announcements with actress/director Debbie Allen, rap artist LL Cool J and boxer Henry Tillman, winner of a gold medal at the 1984 Olympics.

“Messing around with drugs and unsafe sex is like boxing without your gloves on,” Tillman said in one of the announcements.

The campaigns, announced at a press conference at the Community Youth Sports and Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, focuses on the free and anonymous testing for the HIV antibody available at the state’s 90 test sites.
