Taiwan is to open a market for banks to exchange U.S. dollars as part of the country’s efforts to internationalize its financial market.

Central bank governor Samuel Hsieh said preparations for setting up the dollar exchange market between banks are in full swing. He said the central bank would provide U.S. dollars for the initial operations of the market but did not give figures. He also did not say when the market would be opened.
