U.S. Strategy for Nuclear Response

Share

If the Administration truly plans to go ahead with the heinous Strategic Integrated Operations Plan (SIOP), then the American flag deserves to be burned. How can I teach patriotism to my son when the President of our country proposes, with the stroke of a pen, to launch a massive program guaranteed to increase the risk of nuclear holocaust?

It’s been hard enough living with the armaments developed and stockpiled over the last 40-odd years. And now that a treaty to reduce nuclear warheads is actually in sight, Bush sees fit to sponsor a still-deadlier, more hostile and less fail safe avenue of destruction than ever before. What timing!

And how about the deficit?! And what about social welfare? Will Bush spend an extra nickel on mothers who nestle their young to sleep on frozen sidewalks?! Apparently not. He’s too preoccupied with costly plans to butcher craven old Soviet men burrowed far below the earth after they or we have pushed The Button.

I want you to know I’ve never written a letter to a newspaper before. That’s how riled this ghastly SIOP business has made me. It may also serve as a microcosmic indication of the anti-war backlash that may follow in the wake of this diabolical program. I, for one, intend to protest as never before.
