New Telephone Venture: American Express Co. and American Telephone & Telegraph Co. said they had formed a company to process phone calls for market research, direct selling and other “interactive” uses. In an example provided by the new venture, Call Interactive, a food producer could broadcast a television ad with a 900 number for customers who wanted free samples. Call Interactive then would handle the resulting fixed-toll phone calls.
