U.S. Response to Mideast Terrorism
President Bush must be the most naive individual who has ever occupied the White House. According to The Times (Part I, Aug. 1) he plans to seek the help of Iran and Syria to use their influence with the terrorists in Lebanon requesting they treat the hostages humanely which is absolutely absurd! Both these nations hate our guts!
What difference does it make if the Shiites killed the colonel on the 31st day of July or the 15th or whatever. The fact remains that they executed an American! They also executed 241 of our Marines while they slept which must be avenged!
Mr. President, the longer the delay the less effective the attack. Do nothing and you encourage further episodes of murder and kidnapings. Any other decision (no action) will reflect badly on you and your Administration. War is a risk but no war endangers our freedom and self-respect.
