Countywide : Caretaker of Confused Elderly Man Sought
Social workers at UCI Medical Center are looking for the relatives, friends or caretaker of an elderly Romanian man who is confused about where he is.
The man, who calls himself Samuel Simionas, was brought to the medical center’s psychiatric unit July 29 by California Highway Patrol officers, who found him wandering in traffic on the Garden Grove Freeway, social worker Camille Summons said.
Summons said Simionas believes that the year is 1906 and he is now living in Romania. She described him as partly bald with a gray beard and some gray hair. He is 5 feet 5 and looks about 75 years old, she said.
“He may have wandered away from a nursing home,” Summons said. Anyone with information is asked to call Summons at (714) 634 6299.
