One Name Omitted

There was a small but significant omission in Mike Boehm’s July 30 article about the Orange County punk scene (“Faces of O.C.’s Punk Scene”). Barry Miranda’s (stage name, Barrycuda) important contribution as founding drummer for the Crowd was curiously missing.

It was Barry, son of a professional musician, who came up with the band’s name in the spring of 1978. The Crowd’s sound evolved around his speedy rhythms, which are the strong point of the “Beach Blvd.” recording. Barry left the Crowd in 1980 after a falling out with other band members.
