Three of four Utah athletes named in a nine-count federal indictment on drug and conspiracy charges pleaded innocent and were released to separate halfway houses in Salt Lake City.
Errol Martin, 21, of Oakville, Canada; Clyde French, 24, of Carson, Calif., and Sean Henderson, 20, of Clovis, Calif., were arrested last week. Martin and Henderson are members of the University of Utah football team; French is a former player.
A fourth defendant, Cedric Riles, 21, of Riverside, Calif., will appear before Boyce Monday for a detention hearing. Riles is also a Utah football player.
The four were charged with cocaine distribution and conspiracy as the result of an undercover investigation on campus involving both Salt Lake City and university police.
