Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the Texas Stadium management will try to persuade Irving, Tex., officials to permit sale of beer and wine in the stadium, which is owned by the city and in an area where sales of alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Under Irving city zoning ordinances, only “fine restaurants” can serve alcohol.

Stadium leasing agents plan to go before the Irving City Council on Aug. 24 to ask to file for a new zoning status by which the stadium could be classified as a “fine restaurant.”
