Mary Jane Jacob has resigned as chief curator at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. The museum confirmed rumors of the resignation but offered no explanation. A formal announcement will be made later in the week, according to MOCA’s press office. Jacob joined the museum in 1986 after holding a similar post for six years at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. At MOCA, Jacob has organized such exhibitions as “A Forest of Signs: Art in the Crisis of Representation,” a massive show of media-related art that closed Sunday.
