CBS will devote its entire three hours of prime-time programming Sept. 14 to the season premiere of “48 Hours,” as the program returns to its roots on “Crack Street.” “48 Hours: Return to Crack Street” revisits the big-city streets CBS News explored in its 1986 special report “48 Hours on Crack Street,” from which this regular news series was derived. The three-hour special will explore the devastating affect on crime, gangs and the lives of ordinary people all over the country that crack has had over the last several years and why the raging drug epidemic has defied all attempts to control it. The special, anchored by Dan Rather, will also include a live discussion.
