Driver Fires Shots in Traffic Argument

The driver of a pickup truck shot at a man and two women after a traffic argument over tailgating, but missed, the Burbank Police Department reported.

Deann Miehle, 21, of Northridge, was treated for cuts suffered when a bullet shattered a window of the car in which she and a 31-year-old unidentified Sepulveda woman were sitting, Sgt. Don Goldberg said.

“It’s very fortunate that no one was killed,” said Goldberg, calling it “a random shooting by someone . . . crazy.”

The women were following a car driven by Yon Kelly, 28, of Burbank, who was showing them the way to the Golden State Freeway after a party about 4 a.m. Sunday. A man in his mid-20s drove up behind the women in a red pickup truck, Goldberg said, and Yon pulled alongside, shouting at the driver to stop tailgating the women.

The truck driver followed Yon to his house in Burbank, Goldberg said, and the women followed, fearing for Yon’s safety. From the truck, the man fired one round at Yon as he walked from his car to his house, Goldberg said, and fired at the women, who ducked as bullets shattered the window.
