TV RATINGS : Just for Laughs

What were most Americans watching on TV last week? Comedy, comedy, comedy, according to ratings released Tuesday by the A.C. Nielsen Co. The 10 most-watched programs of the week were half-hour comedy series, led by “Roseanne,” which was seen in about 16.9 million homes. NBC finished first among the networks for the 60th consecutive week. The full list of ratings is on Page 11.

* Not everyone was in a laughing mood. Viewers in about 11.7 million homes tuned in last Wednesday to watch the NBC documentary “Fatal Addictions”--enough for it to win its time slot and finish No. 14 in the week’s rankings. ABC’s new magazine show “PrimeTime Live,” with Sam Donaldson and Diane Sawyer, ran second in its Thursday night period and ranked 41st overall.
