A man who allegedly told a co-worker he was “bored with life” and that he was going to Burbank to shoot KNBC-TV news anchorwoman Kelly Lange pleaded innocent Tuesday to a terrorism charge.

Warren Sevy Hudson, 57, was ordered held on $50,000 bail after he pleaded innocent to one felony count of making a terrorist threat, said Deputy Dist. Atty. James David Jacobs.

Hudson was arrested Friday after a co-worker at the downtown previous metals exchange where he worked reported hearing him threaten to kill Lange, Jacobs said.

Hudson allegedly made the threat Wednesday, the day before he was fired from his job.

Hudson wrote letters, made telephone calls and sent gifts to Lange for five years, Jacobs said. The gifts were returned and Lange never met or spoke to Hudson, the prosecutor said.

“He was despondent. He felt she didn’t understand him,” Jacobs said. “He apparently had this love affair with her in his mind for several years.”

The case is the latest in a recent series of attacks or harassment of celebrities by fans. Among them was the slaying last month of actress Rebecca Schaeffer, allegedly killed by an Arizona man described by police as an obsessed fan.

A KNBC executive contacted the district attorney’s office Thursday to report the threat, prompting police to locate Hudson and make the arrest the next day, authorities said.

A .38-caliber pistol and ammunition were found in the motel room where Hudson was arrested, police said.

Lange and KNBC officials declined to comment on the case.

A preliminary hearing for Hudson was scheduled for Aug. 25.
