Wendy Wyland, a six-time national platform diving champion from Boca Raton, Fla., was the top qualifier in the women’s platform semifinal of the U.S. Diving Outdoor Championships at Raleigh, N.C.

Wyland, who is still recovering from viral meningitis, scored 400.95 points, to outdistance Wendy Lian Williams of Bridgeton, Mo., who finished with 360.30 points.
