Readers Take Issue With Freeway Link as a Solution

I totally disagree and am angry about (Ristic’s) letter concerning the 710 Freeway. South Pasadena has my full support in fighting that monstrous Long Beach Freeway. It’s nice to know that South Pasadena likes to preserve their quaint town atmosphere and old buildings and old houses.

Obviously, the person that wrote that letter has no regard for historical buildings. In a lot of ways, I admire South Pasadena for fighting. I am on their side. I live in Alhambra, and it is a nasty and dirty city that is like New York City. It has no caring about old buildings and quaint atmosphere. Most cities should commend South Pasadena for its small-town atmosphere and beautiful old homes. It angers me that other cities want to destroy homes and buildings so they can build another noisy and polluted freeway. All freeways do is take away homes and uproot families. Just because there are traffic problems, we shouldn’t tear historical houses and buildings or any homes down.

The freeway will not solve traffic problems. It will make them worse. It will just put more traffic on our streets.

South Pasadena to me is better than a lot of those cities. They are the snobs for not caring about old houses and buildings and most important uprooting families and forcing them to give up their homes for a concrete jungle. At least South Pasadena cares about their people and homes. To me it is a model city, and I hope they win the fight. They have all my support.

I really don’t like any freeways. To me they are all bad. We have lost a lot of old houses and buildings to freeways. In this day and age, there must be another alternative.
