Peninsula Golfers Need New Course
It was ironic that you carried a letter from a resident of Palos Verdes Estates, going on at length over the horrors attendant to building another golf course on the peninsula (Times, July 3). Such a resident, who, if he wishes, can buy a membership to the beautiful Palos Verdes Golf Club to the exclusion of other golfers, can well afford to discourage added courses.
Those of us who have to get up in the dark to secure a place in line at Los Verdes for a starting time find it very difficult to identify with his arguments. Let’s face it: That land will not be vacant forever. Would you rather have it filled with condos, or the gorgeous greenery of a golf course that we could all enjoy?
