Treasury Note Yields Fall: Yields on five-year Treasury notes fell to the lowest level in 2 1/2 years. The average yield was 8.26%, down from 8.72% at the last comparable auction on May 25. It was the lowest rate since five-year notes averaged 6.73% on Feb. 25, 1987. The notes will carry a coupon interest rate of 8.25% with each $10,000 in face value selling for $9,989.30. A total of $7.8 billion in notes were sold out of bids totaling $26.15 billion.
