A Spring Valley laborer charged in the killings of his roommate and a former Ram football player pleaded guilty to two counts of murder.

George Raymond Cunnington, 27, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the Nov. 18 slaying of former Ram rookie defensive back Reynard Nicholas Phillinganes, 23, and second-degree murder in the killing of Robert J. Hetmer, 51, with whom Cunnington lived.

Phillinganes had played for the Rams, under the name Rey Nicholas, until being released in early November.
