Meher Baba’s Divinity
Chris Willman’s scathing Aug. 18 review of “Meher Baba: Avatar of the Age,” a documentary on the Indian spiritual master, leads me to believe that the critic is out to prove something, perhaps that he is more skeptical than thou.
Willman attacks not only the film but also Meher Baba himself for his “smirks” and the fact he remained silent for 44 years. The critic takes the most offhand and shallow approach to evaluating Meher Baba’s claim to divinity.
Meher Baba lived a life of renunciation, spiritual work and service to humanity. For Willman to deal so disrespectfully with such a person and such a film shows at best ignorance and at worst insensitivity.
