South Korea Used by Soviets for Ship Repairs

SEOUL —
The Soviet Union has turned to South Korea for ship repairs in Asia by shifting away from Singapore and Japan, industry officials said Friday.
South Korean shipyards have repaired 36 Soviet ships and earned $55 million since the end of last year, when the two countries began direct economic dealings despite a lack of diplomatic ties, they said.
