The world premiere of a new ballet choreographed by Gerald Arpino, artistic director of the Joffrey Ballet, will open on Oct. 10 at Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts during the company’s two-week engagement at the Opera House there (from Oct. 3-15). The new ballet, as yet untitled, is based on the dance traditions of vaudeville. It will be produced and choreographed by Arpino with a finale choreographed by Louis Johnson to music by Rebekah Harkness and Eliot Kaplan.
