Nicaragua Holds 2 U.S. Boats, Crews
The Nicaraguan navy has seized two U.S.-owned fishing boats for lack of proper documentation and is detaining the vessels and their crews at the port of Bluefields, the State Department said Monday.
The vessels, carrying a total of eight crew members, were identified as Pete’s Dream and the Pescadora, but their home ports were not given.
The seizures were carried out last Wednesday, State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said. U.S. Embassy officers who have visited the Americans reported that they are in good health.
