Kenneth Thygerson, who resigned last month as president of Imperial Corp. of America, parent of Imperial Savings of California, has been hired as president of Western Capital Investment Corp. of Denver. Thygerson was employed by Western Capital’s predecessor entity in 1981.

Thygerson ended his four-year tenure at ICA amid growing losses and controversy surrounding his stewardship, during which time he steered the S&L; into several non-traditional business activities, including junk bonds and mobile home and car loans. Soon after Thygerson’s resignation, ICA reported a $34-million loss for the quarter ended June 30.

Before joining ICA in 1985, Thygerson was chief executive at Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp.
