Soviet Drug Sweep in Tadzhikistan Nets 130

MOSCOW —
Anti-narcotics teams in the Soviet Central Asian republic of Tadzhikistan have seized or destroyed large amounts of poppies and charged 130 people with drug offenses, a Soviet newspaper reported Tuesday.
Selskaya Zhizn said one woman was caught with 1,700 plants. And at one state farm, agents found 1,200 poppy plants hidden among the onions and other vegetables.
