We were astonished to read in Diane Haithman’s Aug. 20 article on television promotions that “this summer, NBC came up with yet another idea to sell its soaps: an NBC ‘Soap Phone,’ giving viewers a 900 number to call to hear stars talk about . . . shows.”

Please be advised that ABC Daytime not only originated this idea but has been using it continuously for more than three years.
