Golf Roundup : Norman Has 4-Stroke Lead at Milwaukee

Greg Norman attacked the Tuckaway Country Club golf course with another flight of birdies Saturday, shooting a six-under-par 66 to take a four-stroke lead after three rounds of the Greater Milwaukee Open golf tournament at Franklin, Wis.

Norman, who began the day tied for the lead, birdied four of the first six holes and finished with a tournament-record 54-hole score of 17-under-par 199.

Wayne Levi, Bob Lohr and P.H. Horgan III were tied at 203. Levi and Horgan shot 68s, while Lohr had a 66.

Tuckaway’s par-five holes have been a favorite target for Norman in his first Milwaukee appearance. Saturday, he birdied the first three par-fives--the 527-yard second, the 524-yard sixth and the 525-yard 12th.

Rives McBee had an eagle and three birdies over the final eight holes for a five-under-par 65 that gave him a one-stroke lead in the second round of the Senior tournament at Lexington, Ky.

McBee was at seven-under-par 133 going into today’s final round, just ahead of Harold Henning, who had a 66 for a 134.

Cathy Gerring recovered from a first-hole bogey Saturday to shoot a four-under-par 68 and take the first-round lead in the LPGA Rail tournament at Springfield, Ill.

Six players were tied at 69--Alice Ritzman, Beth Daniel, Shirley Furlong, Cindy Rarick, Connie Chillemi and Kris Tschetter.

Jose Rivero of Spain shot a 67 for a 197 total and a one-stroke lead over Stephen Bennett of Britain after three rounds of the European Masters at Crans-Sur-Sierre, Switzerland. Favored Severiano Ballesteros of Spain was at 199.
