KKGO-FM (105.1) announced Tuesday that it will start its new fine-arts format on Sept. 18. The station will air classical music Mondays through Saturdays from 5-9 a.m. and 5-9 p.m., and broadcast jazz from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and 9 p.m.-5 a.m. On Sundays, KKGO-FM will carry jazz from 9 a.m.-noon and 9 p.m.-midnight, with classical music taking the noon to 9 p.m. Sunday hours. On Sept. 20, longtime classical music station KFAC-FM will change to a rock music format. And on Sept. 21, KCRW-FM (89.9) will broadcast “KFAC: Requiem for a Radio Station,” a three-hour special reminiscing with KFAC hosts, listeners, critics and fans.
