Former House Speaker Jim Wright, who resigned from the House in June after being charged with ethics violations, has joined a Texas insurance firm as a special consultant, it was announced. Wright will work with American Income Life Insurance Co. of Waco, Tex. Company Chairman Bernard Rapoport said Wright will serve as a consultant to the firm’s management and be available for motivational talks with the sales force and make other public appearances on a part-time basis. The announcement said Wright will not engage in congressional lobbying or in other formal contacts with government on behalf of any interest group. The statement did not say how much Wright would be paid.
