Open House Letter ‘Missing the Facts’
In response to the Aug. 27 letter on the Mobil open house: The writer seems to be missing the facts. The fact: Mobil has completed a multimillion-dollar project to secure the safety of the community and its employees. Mobil would not allow an open house if it meant endangering lives, and also, leaving them with large liability suits.
The public needs to stop thinking and imagining what Mobil is supposedly doing. Get the facts before promoting public hysteria. City of Torrance planners allowed the housing, schools and businesses to be developed around Mobil--not Mobil. If people cannot get the facts of Mobil making the refinery safe for the community and inviting them to a friendly open house, then they should move somewhere else and ride a horse.
