Santa Ana : Man Critically Injured by Hit-and-Run Driver
A 35-year-old Santa Ana man was in critical condition Thursday after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing a street, authorities said.
Aurelio Avianeda and a friend were crossing an unmarked intersection at McFadden Avenue and Pacific Street at about 5:45 a.m. when Avianeda was struck. The driver failed to stop.
Avianeda sustained a broken back and numerous internal injuries and was taken to United Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
Witnesses described the vehicle as a blue 1976 or 1977 Chevrolet. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Santa Ana police at (714) 647-5084.
