Bright Resigns National Education Post: H. David Bright, former head of National Education Corp., has resigned as a director of the Irvine-based company, severing his last active ties with the firm. The announcement Friday came seven weeks after Bright was ousted as chairman, president and chief executive in the wake of an unexpected $1.5-million second-quarter loss at National Education, the nation’s largest vocational education provider. Bright, 55, joined the company in 1972 as senior vice president of finance. He was named president and chief executive officer in 1978 and became chairman and chief executive officer in February, 1988. A spokesman for National Education said that Bright remains a significant shareholder of the company with 426,865 shares of common stock, or about 1.4% of the shares outstanding.
