Pope Reportedly to Meet With Gorbachev

VATICAN CITY —
Pope John Paul II has agreed to meet with Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev when the Kremlin leader visits Rome in November, the Italian news agency ANSA said Saturday.
The Vatican has not yet officially announced the meeting, but ANSA quoted Vatican sources as expressing certainty the historic meeting will take place. Gorbachev is due to arrive in Italy on Nov. 25.
