SDSU’s Patrick Rowe to Undergo Knee Surgery

Share

Patrick Rowe, San Diego State’s big-play wide receiver, will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today and will be redshirted this season.

Rowe, who in two seasons with the Aztecs has 27 receptions for an 18.5-yard average, injured his knee on the first day of fall practice this year and was unable to play in the opener at Air Force Sept. 2. He has been plagued by injuries throughout his college career.

A Parade All-American at Lincoln High School, Rowe broke his collarbone in the Shrine All-Star game in Los Angeles before his freshman year, causing him to miss the early part of the 1987 season. Midway through that season, he sprained his ankle.

Rowe was most productive last season, catching 18 passes for 267 yards and averaging 25.8 yards on kickoff returns, including an 82-yarder in SDSU’s upset of BYU. But Rowe also played several games with a bruised thigh.

Rowe also participates in track at SDSU and was fourth in the 100 meters at the 1988 Western Athletic Conference championships. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
