LOCAL : Actress Slaying Charges Let Stand

A judge refused today to dismiss murder charges against an obsessed fan charged with stalking and killing actress Rebecca Schaeffer, ruling that it does not matter if the man was illegally extradited from Arizona.
Deputy Public Defender Stephen E. Galindo had sought dismissal of the case on the ground that defendant Robert Bardo, 19, was allegedly illegally extradited from Tucson on Aug. 10.
But Municipal Court Judge David M. Horwitz disagreed. “This court’s jurisdiction is not affected, even if he was forcefully abducted,” the judge said.
