Culver City : Purchase of Theater Site
The Culver City Redevelopment Agency on Monday authorized the purchase of the 11.1-acre Studio Drive-in Theatre site for a condominium and senior housing development.
Agency staff will make offers within a few weeks on the property at 5250 Sepulveda Blvd. and an additional lot next to the drive-in, and the agency expects to receive development proposals for the site in November, said redevelopment project manager Cheri Leslie. She would not say how much the offer would be.
The agency, which also sits as the City Council, approved relocation assistance for Nationwide Theatres Corp. and the Dachanee Restaurant, which sits on the adjacent lot.
Preliminary plans call for a 50- to 100-unit senior facility, condominium townhouses and an apartment complex, Leslie said. To ease traffic congestion, the site will also be used to realign the intersection of Sepulveda and Jefferson boulevards.
