Judge Unseals Fairchild Suit: A U.S. district judge in Los Angeles unsealed an amended complaint against Fairchild Control Systems Co. in which the Justice Department alleges that the company defrauded the Defense Department in connection with a multimillion-dollar contract for the sale of fuel tank devices for fighter planes. The original lawsuit was filed July 12, 1988, by Neil Aliksanian, who was a program manager with Manhattan Beach-based Fairchild until 1987. Attorney Philip Benson of Claremont had disclosed earlier that the government had joined Aliksanian’s suit, but Friday’s announcement of the unsealing was the first official public disclosure of the government’s allegations. Fairchild is a unit of Fairchild Industries Inc. of Chantilly, Va.
