Bruce Seeks First Colorado State Win Today Against CS Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton and Colorado State meet at 11 a.m. PDT today in Hughes Stadium in a game in which former Ohio State Coach Earle Bruce will be seeking his first victory with the Rams.

Fullerton (1-1) lost to Northern Illinois in its opener, but last week defeated Cal State Northridge, a Division II team.

Colorado State, 0-2 after losses to nationally ranked Tennessee and Colorado, will be without starting quarterback Kevin Verdugo, who sprained his right shoulder in the second quarter of last week’s game. Mike Gimenez, who completed seven of 11 passes for 73 yards with one interception as Verdugo’s replacement, will start.

Running back Tony Alford leads the rushing attack, averaging 82.5 yards a game.

The Titans won the only previous meeting between the teams, beating the Rams, 34-22, at Hughes Stadium in 1984. That year, Fullerton went on to an 11-1 record.
