Just when Dallas running back Herschel Walker started to feel comfortable in Atlanta’s Fulton County Stadium, so did Atlanta quarterback Chris Miller.

Miller completed 21 of 29 passes for 255 yards Sunday, helping the Falcons overcome a 21-10 halftime deficit for a 27-21 win, spoiling Walker’s first professional appearance in his home state.

Miller, a former Oregon standout, engineered scoring drives in Atlanta’s first three possessions of the second half as the Falcons (1-1) overcame Walker and rookie quarterback Troy Aikman.

Walker, a three-time All-American at the University of Georgia, rushed for 85 yards in 23 carries and scored on runs of four and 20 yards to help the Cowboys build their early lead.

“It was exciting seeing all the red and white colors,” Walker said, colors shared by the Falcons and Georgia Bulldogs.

“It brought back memories of Georgia, but when you lose a ball game, it takes away from all that. Very disappointing.”

Walker has Miller to thank for that. His second-half passing left Dallas with an 0-2 start for only the third time in franchise history--its first season in 1960 and again in 1963.

Miller’s passing also overshadowed Aikman, who completed 13 of 23 passes for 241 yards, including a touchdown pass play to Michael Irvin that covered 65 yards on the third play of the game.

The Falcons scored the go-ahead touchdown with 7:28 remaining on a four-yard run by John Settle.

Miller hit his only five attempts for 61 yards in a 75-yard third-quarter drive that trimmed the Dallas lead to 21-20 when Kenny Flowers scored on a one-yard run.
